FAHRPOOL founder
The idea for FAHRPOOL didn't come about in a meeting room, but on the soccer field.
When my son was a little boy and started playing soccer for a club, weekends soon became dominated by the game schedule. Away games in particular meant driving there, waiting, and driving back—often every weekend. To organize this better, we parents regularly formed carpools.
Coordination was mostly done via WhatsApp messages, emails, or phone calls. Who is driving? Who still has space? Who is coming later? It quickly became clear that this was tedious, confusing, and prone to errors—especially when many parents were involved.
I am a software developer, and at some point I asked myself a simple question: Why isn't there a really simple tool for organizing carpools easily?
So I started developing a small web tool in my spare time—no fancy features, no ads, no registration hurdles. Just a tool that does exactly what it's supposed to do: help people form carpools.
This is how FAHRPOOL came into being.
Today, FAHRPOOL is a free and freely usable web application that makes it easy for groups to organize carpooling—whether for sports clubs, school classes, music groups, or private events.
The process is deliberately kept simple:
With just a few clicks, the coach or organizer enters the destination and time of an away game or event and shares the automatically generated link with everyone involved. Participants can then independently offer a ride or sign up for an existing ride.
No installation, no login, no app - just a link.
FAHRPOOL was born out of an everyday need and continues to be developed according to this very principle: practical, understandable, and accessible to everyone.
